From the moment I walked in, I loved the cozy atmosphere, the live plants, soft lighting, and comfortable seating. The staff was friendly and engaging, taking their time to talk with us and carefully prepare my matcha. It came out beautifully and tasted just as good as it looked! The scone was delicious too. We found a cozy little spot to sit and enjoy everything. Small, charming, and definitely a place I’d visit again.

For it being my first time in there, I didn’t know what to expect, but was blown away. The seating area seems minimal but comfortable, and there were lots of people enjoying their coffee, working, or hanging out. When we got to the register, the barista was incredibly friendly and helpful for us portal west newbies. The coffee was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious. The kind of delicious where they take pride in their flavors, and do what they can to source or create quality ingredients. My lavender thyme latte was incredible, and my husband got a spicy strawberry latte with pistachio milk (based on the barista’s recommendation), and it was crazy how delicious it was! It was a drive for us, but we will for sure be back. Oh, and the vegan s’mores cookies we got for our kids? Couldn’t even tell they were vegan. They were amazing. I can’t wait to go back there 😇

I make a stop at Portal West every time I am back in Akron (photos of a latte and cortado from two different trips). The coffee is great quality at a reasonable price, and the atmosphere makes you want to hang out all day. Maybe the best part of all is the staff, who are so kind and make you feel right at home. I’m so glad that Akron has Portal West!!! We love you!

As a coffee roaster myself, I really enjoyed this place. They had nice equipment, a Synesso espresso machine and a Mahlkonig grinder for their espresso. The coffee itself that they had for espresso today was enjoyable as well. I had an 8oz latte which was delightful, a good balance of espresso and milk. My wife had a seasonal drink which was a strawberry syrup, pistachio milk and cayenne pepper, I was pleasantly surprised how well those flavors worked together. The place itself may be a bit hard to find so look for the signs, it’s downstairs and the stairs are located outside of the building. Very knowledgeable staff and all the drinks we had were great! We loved seeing their coffee beans available for sale as well. If you’re looking for a coffee shop in the area or a good coffee roaster, take a look at Portal West!

This coffee shop is a hidden gem. Their coffee is delicious! We got the vanilla latte and blueberry lavender matcha. If you like your latte on the sweeter side make sure you let them know. We also ordered their cinnamon rolls, they’re made by a local baker and are sooo fresh and yummy! Love the atmosphere as well; they have lots of seating. Rachel helped us and she was so friendly and helpful with choosing coffee and also referred us to their seasonal menu. She was a delight! We love this coffee shop from their coffee and bakery items to their great customer service..you won’t be disappointed!
